Here is my picnic pal.
Have I told ya'll how much I love this dude? He is my underbelly, girls...my soft spot!! He has been thru so much in his 10 years. He has had surgeries, eye therapy, dyslexic testing, dog attack, broken bones. He lives out loud like his momma. I made him come away from the computer game and enjoy the sunshine while I played with lollipops.
Ever since I got those 2 books from Colorful Images magazine, Candy bouquets and fruit bouquets, I've been on the hunt for little pots, jars and vases to have a good stash for the makings of my bouquets. The pink pot (for fruit bouquets) I got for 50cents at a resale shop and the little jar was a pimento jar. I saw Lady Katherine this week did some adorable lollipop centerpieces with Walmart lollies but I found mine at a Dollar Tree on the other side of town. I could not resist the colors and shapes. I bought $3 worth of pops and have had a blast with them. I played 1 day in my craft room and made a bouquet for our neighbors.
I am showing ya'll how you gotta fluff the bouquet a little with tissue or something to cover up the lollipop sticks. It is meticulous and time consuming work but I like the results.
And they did too. I hear that the 2 sisters are fighting over who gets to keep the little 75 cent vase I used.
I like that for a few bucks you can make peeps feel special and loved.
Back outside...
I pop dot taped the top of the jar to the bottom and taped a scalloped paper cut out to the lid (now the bottom of the arrangement) I tied a ribbon to the side of the lid. I then carefully took pink tissue paper and tucked it into and around the jar innards (had to google the spelling of that word. lol). Very carefully I stuffed the inside of all the pink tissue with white floral foam from The Dollar Tree. I had to slice and dice it to get pieces into this little jar. You gotta have a great base to pic your arrangement into.
It was a lot of work for a little treat for a precious girl that is turning 13 next week. Her little brother plays ball with my lil guy and I have a thing for her because she's such a great young lady. Her mamma told me she loves these hair bands so me and little guy went out and picked her 3 of them and I had all the rest on hand to make a basket for her.
Just think...all this fun edible arrangement all because lil guy wanted to try 1.
A dear friend has had a birthday and she loves glass pieces so I could show ya'll what I got her to stuff in this Easter Egg looking box...do ya want to take a looks see?...
I piled a bunch of candy on top but it looks un-dignified so this is your peek.
I KNOW she will love it and she does not have to know that it only set me back $4 at BigLots. They have a special "lot" in mine and this was 1/2 price. She'd pay $30 for something like this and not blink.
Lil guys fav jelly beans are SweetTarts.
Picnic treat...yummo!!

I loved your post and I am now a follower!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you noticed on my blog - Concetta's Cafe - that I have a hospitality club that I started with the most magnificent group of girls - The Kitchenettes! You have given me so many wonderful ideas! I am having a "Spring Fling" for them at the end of April -they will be grinding wheat and making homemade bread and I am surprising them with a lovely sit down brunch. I will be incorporating some of your beautiful items! Thank you!
Be Blessed,
Concetta
Your lollipop bouquets and gift containers look so cheerful and pretty, but I have to confess, the last one is my favorite - I absolutely adore strawberries and whipped cream. That's what we're having on Sunday for dessert. I will add a slice of Sarah Lee poundcake on the bottom, though, seeing how I have company and don't want to appear chintzy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your son. Sounds like you do have every reason to be thankful! Happy Easter to you and yours.
Doris :-)
I like how you wrapped tissue with each one...I just made a bunch of chocolate lolipops and wasn't sure how I would deliver them - NOW I KNOW!! Thanks for the idea

They turned out so adorable. A lot of work but definitely worth it. The lollipop idea is great because you don't have to spend a lot of money on flowers.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Those treats are great! And a picnic is a perfect way to spend these warming days. Happy Easter!
